Logoplaste is currently seeking to recruit an EHS Engineer to join the team in Plainfield, IL (USA).

Reporting to: EHS Manager

EHS Engineer position in Plainfield is responsible for all aspects of Environmental Health & Safety for the IL facilities.

Key Tasks & Activities...

  • Assist site management in executing EHS priorities, metrics, goals, and requirements.
  • Provide EHS technical guidance and support to site management to ensure compliance with EHS regulatory requirements.
  • Create, modify, and implement EHS procedures, Work Instructions and Forms.
  • Evaluate facility EHS conditions, assess risks and develop appropriate corrective-action plans to address deficiencies in comparison to regulations and internal policy/protocol.
  • Support the communication and involvement to develop continuous improvement plans for EHS performance and programs.
  • Participate in detailed incident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective action determination.
  • Prepare and conduct safety training sessions for employees, temp employees, visitors and contractors coming on site. Ensure compliance training is completed and documented per OSHA Guidelines.
  • Actively participate in the internal safety audit system. Conduct EHS system audits and report on recommendations for improvement.
  • Ensure robust Safety Teams exist in each facility. Mentor teams to improve effectiveness.
  • Create and implement safety awareness programs and activities to foster a safety culture.
  • Perform environmental sampling and document events (if necessary). Ensure proper collection and disposal of hazardous materials and waste.
  • Assist in emergency response and provide first aid treatment along with authorized safety team members.
  • Implement and oversee behavior based/observation programs.
  • Help develop Risk Assessments. Research and implement new safe processes for each job function and institute changes to ensure compliance.
  • Be an ambassador for EHS in our organization – promote the process and encourage participation and adherence with all levels of the organization.
  • Track and communicate incident metrics and apply findings.

The successful candidate will have...

  • Bachelor’s degree preferably in environmental, health and safety.
  • 3+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Plastics manufacturing industry experience preferred.
  • Extensive knowledge of OSHA and EPA standards.
  • Multi-site experience is a plus.
  • Proficient in computer systems – Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Strong time management and organizational skills
  • Knowledge of manufacturing techniques
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; presentation skills
  • Ability to travel as necessary
  • OSHA & EPA standards
